Screenwriting

On here you can find of my screen writing endeavours. Though only my practice stuff, the more serious stuff is secret for obvious reasons of course.

I’ve written some practice stuff which I could post her but I don’t think it’s good enough to leave on here anymore.

So what kind of thing am I working on? I don’t try to stick to one genre, the first two scripts I finished (though the second one is a complete and total rewrite of the first) are sci-fi. Right now the main projects I’m working on are a fantasy/drama (with some dark humor thrown in), a comedy, another sci-fi and I also have ideas for some animated projects. Not really ready to tell too much about those yet.

The literature I used so far for my screenwriting endeavors are the following:

  • The Screenwriter’s Bible, David Trottier
  • Creating Characters, Marisa D’Vari
  • Creating Unforgettable Characters, Linda Seger
  • Story, Robert McKee
  • Making a Good Script Great, Linda Seger
  • The Script-Selling Game, Kathie Fong Yoneda

I also have a subscription to Script magazine.

As far as the inspiration goes for my writing; I can’t really say that I have a specific writer that I look up to. Though in reality I would pretty much look up to any writer that is active in Hollywood, seeing they are active there and I’m not. I however have the ambition to make it though I’m not in an ideal situation; though that’s the beauty of the internet. Doesn’t matter where you live you can get almost everything you need from the internet. If I ever have to go to LA to try and sell a script I will do it even though it would be expensive.

As far as people are interested what I do when I’m not writing; I’m a college drop-out. I attempted at studying aerospace engineering at one of the highest regarded universities in the world but I failed. So right now I’m answering phones at an airport; which is far from what I aspired to do when I came out of high school. I completely blame myself for dropping out; I don’t want anything like that to happen again. Script writing is pretty much the thing I’ve been the most focused on in my entire life.

If anyone has questions about my screenwriting work they can of course email me at info@bvang.com, any questions or feedback are welcome.
